This course is designed for SCC residents who moved to Florida from another
state. We will cover the following topics:
Week 1 - Claiming Florida Domicile and Dying without a Will
Week 2 - Understanding Last Will and Testament
Week 3 - Titling Your Property and Avoiding Probate
Week 4 - Understanding Trusts
Week 5 - Understanding How Trusts Operate
Week 6 - Avoiding Death Taxes and Taxes in General
A required textbook, “Estate Planning for the Florida Resident,” by Thomas N.
Silverman, Esquire, P.A., may be purchased for $10.00 in the College office when
you register.
Spencer Faircloth has a BA Degree from Emory University in Atlanta and a MA
Degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He served on the faculty
of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs of the University of
Pittsburgh leading seminars for top managers in industry and member nations of
the United Nations. He served for three years with the European Office Aerospace
Research with the American Embassy in Brussels, Belgium. He was a letter writer
for both President Lyndon Johnson and later, President Richard Nixon. He served
in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and as the Executive Director of a
Presidential Committee with the White House. Spencer moved to Sun City Center
from New York in 1989. He joined Sun Trust Bank and worked until he retired in
2009.
